Arts & Crafts from the Misty Isle

Questions & Answers

I have listed below commonly asked questions about our products and services. If you cannot find the answer to your query, please see the contact us page for details of our e-mail details, telephone numbers etc.

Q) Where is Skye?
A) Skye is a large island (now connected by a bridge) off the west coast of Scotland steeped in history and folklore. It is home to a thriving community of artists, craft workers and artisans, crofters and those who appreciate the rewards of island living.

Q) Why "Made in Skye"?
A) Ian & I setup the company in order to reach out to a wider audience worldwide and to offer a showcase to artists and craft workers to display their works. We are all profoundly influenced by this unique environment and this is reflected in the wealth and variety of our products.

Q) Are all your products made on Skye?
A) Although we all buy in raw materials from off the island, it is fundamental that all products are actually produced or finished on Skye itself. Therefore, as a photographer, I buy photographic paper, inks etc off island but I print, mount and frame my pictures here. In the case of my cards, I print some and others are printed locally by an island printer.

Q) How secure is shopping via your site?
A) All transactions on the Made in Skye site are underwritten by Paypal who provide protection against unauthorised payments and identity theft. In addition, we occasionally offer products via Made In Skye at Ebay Shops (just click on the link to go there) and payments made on Ebay are also protected by Paypal. We accept payments by credit & debit cards as well as Amex and Paypal. Please also see our Privacy Policy for further information.

Q) I like the look of Skye – can I visit you?
A) Both Ian and I run Bed & Breakfasts (see links for details) and we would welcome visitors at any time of the year.
